Through KAI, the Government maintains the affordability of transportation and smooth mobility in Nataru

Total Discount Commercial Economy Train Sold 1,139,481 Tickets from 1,509,080

The government continues to maintain the affordability of public transportation and the smooth mobility of people during the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) transportation period through tariff policies that support the community. This support is carried out through PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) by presenting various train fare discount programs.

During this Christmas period, KAI is providing a fare discount of 30 percent for Commercial Economy Train services which is valid from 22 December 2025 to 10 January 2026. In this program, KAI has prepared a total of 1,509,080 seats. Until December 27 2025 at 08.00 WIB, tickets sold reached 1,139,481 tickets or 76 percent of the total capacity. Thus, there are still 369,599 seats available that the public can use.

KAI Vice President Corporate Communication Anne Purba said that this affordable fare program is part of the government’s role in ensuring that access to public transportation remains wide open during the year-end holidays.

“Through KAI, the government is trying to maintain the affordability of transportation during Christmas so that people can travel safely and comfortably. This maintained mobility also encourages economic activity in various regions,” said Anne.

Apart from the economic service strengthening program, KAI also offers a 25 percent fare discount for long-distance trains of various classes, from Executive, Luxury, to Compartment. This program is valid for ticket purchases from 25 to 31 December 2025, with a departure schedule of 29 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, covering 252 long-distance train trips during the Christmas period.

All discount programs can be accessed easily via the Access by KAI application, so that people can plan their trips practically and efficiently. It is hoped that this easy access will help people plan their end of year holiday travel plans more calmly.

Overall, ticket sales for the 2025 Christmas and New Year 2026 Transports for the period 18 December 2025 to 4 January 2026 have reached 3,251,764 tickets as of 27 December 2025 at 08.00 WIB, from a total of 3,506,104 seats provided. Long-distance train ticket sales were recorded at 2,744,263 tickets or 99.4 percent of capacity, while local trains sold 507,501 tickets or 68.1 percent of the total available capacity.

The high level of community mobility during Christmas has a positive impact on the regional economy. The movement of train passengers encourages the activities of MSMEs, food and beverage traders, local transportation businesses, and small-scale accommodation managers around stations and tourist destinations. Maintained travel flows help strengthen economic circulation and support the sustainability of community businesses in various regions.

KAI urges the public to take advantage of the remaining discount quota that is still available and order tickets via Access by KAI so that Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 travel can take place comfortably, safely and have a positive impact on the national economy.
