Makashi Kishimoto, creator Naruto series, has introduced a number of very interesting and compelling villains over the years and they all come with different abilities. One of the most unique abilities Kishimoto gives his villains is the power of immortality. Particularly in the Akatsuki ranks, Kishimoto gave Hidan and Kakuzu powers akin to immortality, but it was Hidan and Kakuzu who possessed true immortality by worshiping Lord Jashin.
At the end of his fight with Shikamaru in Naruto Chapter 338, which came out officially in Weekly Shounen Jump Issue #8 on February 05, 2007, Hidan was officially buried forever, but most fans believe that he is still alive to this day. At this time Boruto: Two Blue Swirls era, the latest chapter which was released on May 20 2026, Hidan is no longer alive, and this was confirmed by the author directly in a very popular and extensive data book entitled Kai no Sho, which was officially released on December 9 2009.
Naruto Kai no Sho Guidebook Confirms Hidan Is No Longer Alive After Shikamaru’s Fight
Hidan is one of the most interesting villains in the world Narutoand also one of the scariest. In terms of strength, he is not very impressive, despite his popularity. However, he is still strong enough to kill Asuma in a fight and even keep up with Matatabi, the Two-Tails. Despite his immense strength, he lost the battle against Shikamaru, who, utilizing his brilliant strategy, was able to chop him into pieces and then bury him deep underground in the Nara Forest. Due to having the power of immortality, he did not die even when dismembered, and his head was clearly visible speaking. This makes many of us believe that he is still alive today.
“All preparations have been completed. Now, we will begin with the great suffering.” — Hidan when he kills Asuma, Naruto Chapter #321
Recently resurfaced comments from Masashi Kishimoto in Kai no Sho, the official Naruto fanbook, confirm once and for all that he is no longer alive in the current era of Boruto. As with many individuals in the world of Naruto, immortality comes in many forms. Hidan may not be able to be killed, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be dealt with in other ways, such as being atomized using Dust Release or other methods. According to the new data book, he eventually died of rot.

After 12 Years, Boruto Officially Brings Back Sakura Haruno With New Character Improvements
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 34 which was released on May 20 2026 brings back Sakura with a new touching moment with her daughter, Sarada.
Hidan Cannot Survive Without Nutrients Underground
Hidan’s immortality is quite strange, as it most likely ensures that he does not age and, at the same time, he does not die from any physical attacks. He could be cut into a hundred pieces, and he would still not die, with each piece retaining the ability to move. This is what makes Hidan a very scary villain. But even so, Hidan is not invincible and there are other ways to deal with him. One of them is hunger.
“He was still alive at that time. But, just like a normal human, he could still rot if he didn’t get nutrition.” — Kai no Sho, December 9, 2009
When Hidan was dismembered by Shikamaru and buried deep underground in the Nara forest, he had no nutrition and eventually began to rot due to the immense hunger and decay that came with it. He could no longer live and eventually died, according to comments made in Kai no Sho in 2009, which only resurfaced recently. The confirmation of Hidan’s fate certainly adds a new and unique twist to the story and elevates Shikamaru’s character brilliantly. This tells us that Shikamaru was more than successful in getting revenge for Asuma’s death. At the same time, it also shows that when Shikamaru is determined, not even immortal individuals can stop him. That’s precisely why we as fans can appreciate him as the temporary 8th Hokage in the Boruto era.
“What I believe in is the Will of Fire. But, your God is not a Jashin-sama right now. It’s me. I will judge you.” — Shikamaru after burying Hidan, Naruto Chapter #338

Why True Immortality Can Only Be Achieved Through the Rinnegan
Hidan gained immortality through his pact with Lord Jashin and all the worship and sacrifices he made to him. It’s unclear what the mechanism behind this immortality is and who Jashin is, as a whole. However, what is clear is that Jashin gave Hidan the power of immortality, even though he ultimately died due to decay and lack of nutrition. Interestingly enough, not all immortals are the same in the world of Naruto. Even Kakuzu, who has many lives, is said to be immortal, even though this is not the case. The best version of immortality comes with the power of the Rinnegan.
At first I had the Sharingan, but now I have the Rinnegan too. Reincarnation, immortality, I have many choices. —SasukeUchiha, Naruto Chapter #694
The Rinnegan is an extremely powerful dojutsu that essentially gives a person control over life and death itself which we have experienced firsthand through the Attack of Pain Arc and all the other arcs that came after. The Rinnegan can grant immortality through many means, and the immortality that comes with these eyes is far better than anything Jashin has to offer. Unlike Hidan, any Rinnegan user would likely not lack nutrition due to their innate ability to drain the chakra of all living things upon contact. Rinnegan users simply suck chakra from every individual they come into contact with, as seen during Naruto’s fight against Nagato in chapter 551, which was officially released in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #47 on September 5, 2011.
Thus, the Rinnegan completely circumvents Jashin’s lack of immortality. Likewise, the Rinnegan can also aid the reincarnation process, as confirmed by Sasuke. It can also steal lifespan and essentially allow the user to play as a god himself. If there is to be a true immortal in the world of One Piece, he must be a strong Rinnegan user. Surprisingly, the strongest character in the entire Naruto verse, Shibai Otsutsuki, also has a Rinnegan on his forehead. He attained such great power that he eventually abandoned his mortal body and became a true immortal who was now on a completely different plane of existence.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
