Cloud Imperium Games has kicked off its big Star Citizen showcase event this year, with DefenseCon 2956 now live and running until May 27th. The annual in-universe convention also serves as one of the biggest free-flying events in the game, meaning anyone can come along and try out Star Citizen without paying for access for the next two weeks.
Located in Area18 at ArcCorp, DefenseCon 2956 takes over the Bevic Convention Center with rotating daily manufacturer exhibits featuring more than 100 vessels available for charter and flight testing. The event arrives just after the launch of Alpha 4.8, which added Tactical Strike Groups, a large-scale fleet combat mission focused on coordinated attacks and large ship engagements.
This year’s event leaned heavily on the rough-and-ready aesthetic of Drake Interplanetary following the UEE Navy’s withdrawal from Stanton. Drake CEO Anden Arden turned that absence into an opportunity, turning the event into a grand celebration of heavy weapons, massive cargo carriers and battle-ready ships.
DefenseCon’s opening day introduced several new Drake ships. The main addition is the Ironclad, a large freighter that carries over 2,200 SCU cargo bays in addition to a removable command module and extensive turret range. Its counterpart, Ironclad Assault, sacrifices some cargo capacity in exchange for troop transport space, armored vehicle space, and onboard repair and refueling capabilities.
Drake also launched Pitbull, a lightweight solo fighter built on pure offensive output.
Other manufacturers also received their own spotlight throughout the event. Origin will launch its M80 heavy fighter on May 16-17, while MISC follows with Starlite, a new single-refueling vessel designed to keep the fleet operational mid-flight.
Aegis then steps in with one of the show’s scarier reveals. The Tiburon heavy battleship was designed specifically for anti-capital combat, featuring five turrets, beam armament, and a heavy missile payload aimed squarely at larger ships.
Perhaps the biggest reveal will come later this week when Anvil introduces the Odin battlecruiser concept. According to Cloud Imperium Games, the ship is somewhere between the scale of a Javelin and a Bengal, featuring 23 turrets, 10 torpedo launchers, seven hangars, and 8,000 SCU cargo holds.
DefenseCon 2956 also includes Twitch Drops for viewers watching participating Star Citizen streams. Anyone who watches four hours of qualifying streams can unlock a Murray Cup-themed flight suit for their in-game hangar.
Veteran players can also earn referral rewards during the event, including a Drake Dragonfly with Coalfire Paint for successful referrals, while new players receive free cosmetic clothing items.
The event’s free fly period runs through May 27 at 4pm UTC, giving curious players a chance to see what Star Citizen looks like now following the latest addition of Alpha 4.8.
PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
