ACEH TAMIANG, 3 January 2026 – Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo spent the New Year holiday, Thursday (1 January 2026), by directly observing the progress of the construction of temporary shelters (huntara) for communities affected by the disaster in Gampong Bundar, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh. The construction of this shelter is a concrete manifestation of the state’s presence in providing adequate, safe and humane housing for residents who previously lived in refugee camps with limited facilities due to floods and landslides.

Development
shelters in Aceh Tamiang are implemented by the Directorate General of Infrastructure
Strategically, the Ministry of Public Works collaborates with BUMN Karya, PT Wijaya Karya
(Persero) Tbk. The project shows significant and rapid progress, starting
from foundation work to modular roof installation.
Technically,
This shelter adopts a modular building system with a steel frame structure
light. This technology was chosen because of its strong, fast and deep characteristics
workmanship, but still prioritizing occupant comfort. Development process
shelters include foundation construction work, installation of modular frames,
walls, light steel roofs, as well as mechanical, electrical and plumbing work
(Member of the European Parliament).
By method
of the construction, the construction of shelters in Gampong Bundar is targeted for completion
in early January 2026. With the completion of this shelter, the government
hopes to speed up the relocation of residents to safer and more comfortable housing.

Huntara area
Aceh Tamiang is planned to be able to accommodate around 80 heads of families (KK).
This shelter complex consists of 7 blocks of residential modular buildings and 1 block
additional capacity of 12 families. Each block is designed to have a capacity
up to 48 people or the equivalent of 12 families, with a total capacity of 336
people.
To support
residents’ daily activities, the entire shelter area is equipped with
adequate supporting facilities, including hygienic communal toilets,
electrical and lighting installations, clean water and sanitation networks.
Ministry of Public Works
hope that the existence of this shelter will not only restore the community’s sense of security,
but also the initial foundation for the recovery of social and economic life
post-disaster in Aceh Tamiang Regency.
