JAKARTA, 3 January 2026 – The Ministry of Public Works (PU) moved quickly to respond to the impact of flash floods and subsequent landslides that hit Jorong Pasar Maninjau, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, on Wednesday (31/12/2025). The main focus of handling at this time is cleaning up landslide material in the Kelok 28 area which has cut off access to the road connecting Maninjau Market – Lubuk Alung.
The Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, emphasized that all
ministry resources have been mobilized to support emergency management,
especially in the sectors of roads and bridges, water resources and water supply
clean and sanitary.
“We are moving quickly to ensure connectivity is maintained
and the basic needs of the people in refugee camps are met,” said the Minister

“Currently, heavy equipment support deployed at the location includes
2 units from the National Police, 1 unit from BWS, and 1 unit wheel loader from
District Public Works. The plan is that BWS will add 2 more heavy equipment, of which 1 unit
scheduled to arrive on January 3, 2026 and another unit on January 6
2026,” explained Naryo.
Apart from focusing on physical infrastructure, the Ministry of Public Works also
prioritize the basic needs of refugees. Affected communities in the District
Tanjung Raya has now been relocated to a temporary residence (huntara) in Palembayan.
At this location, the Ministry of Public Works has mobilized 1 unit Mobile
Nursing Unit (MTU) and 5 public hydrant units to guarantee
availability of clean water. The handling in Tanjung Raya is a continuation
from the Ministry of Public Works’ emergency response operations in West Sumatra which have been
taking place from the end of November 2025.
Until December 30 2025, the Ministry of Public Works noted that it had
mobilized a total of 341 units of heavy equipment (114 units belonging to PU and 227 units from partners
BUMN) to all affected areas in West Sumatra. In addition, 7 units
