PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Division I North Sumatra is again moving to reach out to the people affected by the flash flood disaster in the Aceh Tamiang and Langsa City areas. This step is clear proof that KAI’s concern goes beyond the boundaries of the rail line, touching directly the pulse of the lives of people who are struggling in difficult times.
Vice President of KAI Divre I North Sumatra, Sofan Hidayah, emphasized that KAI’s presence at disaster locations is not just a corporate obligation, but a humanitarian call. “We want the community to know that they are not alone in facing this test. The basic food assistance that we deliver directly to villages in Aceh Tamiang and Langsa is a form of moral support so that residents will again have the enthusiasm to get up and organize their lives,” said Sofan.
The distribution of aid covered areas that were quite badly affected, starting from the Darul Tholibin Islamic Boarding School in Pangkalan Brandan, to reaching remote areas in Tenggulun District, Pulau Tiga Village, Tamiang Hulu, Sungai Liput, to Tualang Tengoh Village. The KAI team also visited residents in Tanjung Saumantoh, Selalah Bawah Village, Bandar Murni Hamlet, and Senebuk Cantik Village.
Meanwhile, Plt. Public Relations Manager of KAI Divre I North Sumatra Anwar Yuli Prastyo said, previously KAI moved quickly to distribute disaster response assistance amounting to 350 million to communities in the Aceh and North Sumatra regions.
“Saturday, December 20, KAI Divre I North Sumatra was again present directly among the people of Aceh by distributing 498 basic food packages which were distributed to various evacuation points and residential areas in Aceh Tamiang and Langsa,” said Anwar
Anwar further said, not only for the people of Aceh, previously 436 basic food packages had also been distributed to affected communities in the North Sumatra region. So the total number of basic food packages that have been distributed is 934 packages with a value of 169 million rupiah collected from KAI Group donations.
The sincerity of this assistance was felt directly by the residents, one of whom was Aziz, a representative of the Sungai Liput community. He expressed his emotion and gratitude to KAI for caring about visiting their area. For him, this assistance is an antidote to the burden amidst residents’ efforts to restore the condition of their homes.
“KAI hopes that the fire of enthusiasm for flood survivors in Aceh will continue to burn. KAI Divre I North Sumatra is committed to continuing to be present as part of the solution for the community, not only in providing transportation, but also as a partner who readily embraces others in facing every disaster challenge,” concluded Anwar.
